Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Filed under: news, ramblings — Cara @ 2:31 pm

Yes, it’s my birthday and I am going to blow my own horn ;) I love birthdays. All birthdays. They don’t even have to be mine! I got some great pressies. A brand new spiffy laptop from dear husband, dishes from one of my sisters and a gift card from the other. Gorgeous Australian yarn from a dear friend and lots of cards! I’m having a very good day!

I’ve begun the preparation for my birthday feast. Yes, I make my own feast. No one else like celebrations but I adore them so I make my own. There will be chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, blackeyed peas, gravy and biscuits! A true Southern meal. I always have the same thing even if we actually go out to eat lol. When I was a kid it was fried chicken instead of the steak but that’s too messy. Like chicken fried steak isn’t?

And to top all that off we have yummy brownies! Was gonna make cake but I didn’t have the right kind of icing nor the ingredients to make some. I can’t drive so brownies it is! Brownies and cake all serve the same purpose anyway…to add inches to my hips ;)

Also, a great big happy birthday hug to my friend’s daughter, Kaila!! And a big hug for anyone else celebrating a birthday today!

  1. This is my first trip to your website. Let me wish you “Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday. May you have many more”. You’ve got my kinda meal on tap for your birthday dinner. Enjoy!

I’m going to stick around awhile and read some more, esp. crochet patterns. Maybe I’ll come by again.

  2. Happy birthday! I have saved all of your patterns and have read your stories too! Your recipes remind me of all the ways I tried to save money and yet cook good meals for my kids. I for get sometimes how simple life can be when we just “get by”. I miss those days and thank you for reminding me of them! Your Dad has the same cooking skills mine does! My Mom made me do the grocery shopping with him when she was going through times similar to your Mom’s. I even wrote her checks for the bills. I know my children would do the same for me. I think I got the birthday present instead of you! A little early, but wonderful!
