Baby Nine Patch

BABY NINE PATCH CROCHET QUILT

This cute as a button preemie baby quilt comes to us from the very talented Melanie Henderson! This pattern could easily be adapted for larger quilts!

ABBREVIATIONS

beg - beginning
ch - chain
sp - space
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
BLO - Back Loop Only

 

SOLID COLOR GRANNY Finished square measures approximately 2 1/2”  

Ch 4, join with a sl st to first chain to form a ring

RND 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 1, (3 dc in ring, ch 1) three times, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

RND 2: Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same ch 1 sp, ch 1 (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1) in remaining 3 ch 1 sps, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3, finish off, weave in loose ends

Materials Needed

2 oz   Aran worsted weight yarn
2 oz   Turqua worsted weight yarn
2 oz   Light Mint worsted weight yarn
7 oz   Cornmeal worsted weight yarn
Size “G” crochet hook, or size needed for proper gauge
Tapestry Needle

Afghan Assembly

Using tapestry needle and appropriate color yarn and stitching through BLO, completed squares using the diagram below for placement:

Border RND 1: With Cornmeal yarn join with a sl st to any corner ch 1 sp, sc around, work 3 sc in each corner ch 1 sp, join with sl st to first sc to join

RND 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in each sc around, work 3 dc in each corner, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3 to join

RND 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc around, work 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st to first sc to join, finish off, weave in loose ends
