Becky's Blocks Lapghan

Finished size approximately 50" square

 

Materials

Lion Brands Vanna's Choice yarn in the following colors:

21 oz Rust
18 oz Honey
21 oz Linen
Size "J" crochet hook
Tapestry needle

Block Directions - Finished size approximately 12" before border round

You will need to make a block in the following colors in the number shown: 5 Rust - 5 Honey - 6 Linen

Row 1: Ch 42, (hdc, dc) in 3rd ch from hook, *sk next 2 chs, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch, repeat from * to last 3 chs.  Sc in last ch. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-27: Work (hdc, dc) in last sc from previous row.  *Skip next two stitches, work (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc, repeat from * across to last stitch.  Sc in last stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 28: (right side) Repeat Row 2 but do not turn.

Rnd 1: Working in ends of rows sc evenly down the side of block, across free loops in foundation ch row, up the opposite side and across Row 28 working 3 sc in the corners.  Join to first with sl st. Finish off.

Assembly

Join blocks by holding right sides together and whip stitching together using the grid below for placement.

Border

Rnd 1: With Rust yarn, join with sl st anywhere along the outside of lapghan.  Ch 1, sc in same stitch as joining.  Sc evenly around lapghan working (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corners. Ch 2, turn.

Rnd 2: Hdc in each sc around, working (hdc, ch 2, hdc) in the corner ch 1 spaces. Ch 1, turn.

Rnd 3: Sc in each hdc around, working (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner ch 1 sps. Ch 2, turn

Rnd 4: Hdc in each sc around, working (hdc, ch 2, hdc) in the corner ch 1 spaces.  Finish off.  Weave in loose ends.
