CD & DVD GIFTBAGS
Two gifts in one! Just tuck in a CD, DVD or even certain video game cases into this nifty little gift bags complete with secret flap to keep out prying eyes! Don't be intimidated by what looks like a very long set of directions. I made the CD bag in about an hour!
Abbreviations:
ch - Chain
sc - Single Crochet
dc - Double Crochet
sl st - Slip Stitch
dec - Decrease

Materials & Supplies:
Note: I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn! in the models. Any worsted weight yarn will do if you don't have a Hobby Lobby or it can be ordered online.
4 oz Victorian Christmas Ombre worsted weight yarn
2 oz Ivory worsted weight yarn
Size “H” Crochet
Hook
Tapestry Needle
Body Directions:
Note: Ch 2 counts as first dc unless otherwise noted
With Christmas Ombre, ch 21
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 2, turn (20 sc)
Row 2: (Right side) Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (20 dc)
Row 3: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn
Row 4: Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn
Rows 5-28: Repeat Row 3 and Row 4 alternately for pattern
Flap:
Row 29: Working in back loops only, sl in first sc, sc in next 18 dc, leave last stitch unworked, ch 2, turn (18 sc)
Row 30: Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (18 dc)
Row 31: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn
Row 32: Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 33: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn
Row 34: Sc in each sc across, finish off, weave in loose ends
Form bag:
With Right Sides together, fold finished bag body in half lengthwise between Row 1 and Row 28 (flap is NOT included in fold). Sew up side seams leave flap free.
Cuff:
Note: Cuff is worked in rounds and turned after every round
Turn bag right side out. Tuck flap inside bag to make working easier.
Rnd 1: With right side out and working in free loops of foundation row, join Ivory with a sl st to edge, ch 1, sc around front and back (work in free loops left over from the flap), ch 1, turn (38 sc)
Rnd 2: Sc in first sc, dc in next sc, *sc in next sc, dc in next sc, repeat from * around, ch 1, turn (38 sts)
Rnds 3-7: Sc in first dc, dc in next sc, *sc in next dc, dc in next sc, repeat from * around, ch 1, turn
Rnd 8: Sc in first dc, dc in next sc, *sc in next dc, dc in next sc, repeat from * around, ch 5, turn
Rnd 9: Skip next 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch, *ch 4, skip 2 stitches, sc in next stitch, repeat from * 11 times, ch 4, sc in base of beginning ch 5, sl st in second ch of beginning ch 5 (yes both), ch 1, turn
Rnd 10: 3 sc in the ch 5 space, sc in next sc, *3 sc in next ch 4 space, sc in next sc, repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc, finish off weave in loose ends.

With Forest, ch 23
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 2, turn (22 sc)
Row 2: (Right Side) Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (22 dc)
Row 3: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn (22 sc)
Row 4: Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn
Rows 5-40: Repeat Row 3 and Row 4 alternately for pattern
Flap:
Row 41: Working in back loops only, sl st in first dc, sc in next 20 dc, leave last stitch unworked, ch 2, turn (20 sc)
Row 42: Dc in each sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 43: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn
Rows 45-46: Repeat Rows 42 and 43
Row 47: Sc in each sc across, finish off, weave in loose ends
Form bag:
With Right Sides together, fold finished bag body in half lengthwise between Row 1 and Row 40 (flap is NOT included in fold). Sew up side seams leave flap free.
Cuff:
Note: Cuff is worked in rounds and turned after every round
Turn bag right side out. Tuck flap inside bag to make working easier.
Rnd 1: With right side out and working in free loops of foundation row, join Ivory with a sl st to edge, ch 1, sc around front and back (work in free loops left over from the flap), ch 1, turn (42 sc)
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around, ch 1, turn
Diamonds:
First Diamond:

Trim for Diamonds:
Join Ivory with a sl st to one of the unworked sc that are in line with the bag's side seams. Ch 2. Working in ends of rows, *sc in next row end, ch 2, repeat from * around all diamonds. Join with a sl st to first, finish off weave in loose ends.
Finishing:
With Ivory, ch 44, finish off. Weave chain through bottom of bag two rows up from bottom on a dc row. Weave under one dc post, over 2 dc post, under one dc post, etc. Tie in a bow and fluff!
