Single Crochet Decrease - Insert

Markers - Markers are used to specify
where a round begins and ends. Use a small piece of contrasting
yarn or a small safety pin placed in the stitch before the first stitch
of each round. Move the marker as you go.

of Rnd 1 of Body. This is where you will begin the first leg. Place a
marker in this free loop. Stuff the head and body. With a sl st join
Buff yarn to the marked center free loop. Sc in same free loop as sl st.
Sc in next 29 free loops; join with a sl st to first sc of leg. DO NOT
TURN (30 sc)

Fringe (hair): Cut a piece of cardboard 4”
x 12”. Wrap Cornmeal yarn around 72 times. Cut yarn along long edge of
cardboard to make 72 8” lengths of Cornmeal yarn. Using a crochet hook,
draw the folded end up through the stitches around the base and pull the
loose ends through the folded end; draw the knot up tightly. Do this
twice in each of the 36 stitches around the base.

Assembly:
Lay overall flat.
Fold left edge to line up with center of bib section. Do the same with
the right edge to form legs. Using Country Blue yarn and tapestry
needle start at lower edge of one cuff sew up the inside of first leg,
down inside edge of next leg to opposite edge of cuff. Sew back seam
closed. Sew shoulder straps to top of back.
Patches:
Row 1) With any
color you wish, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across,
ch 1 turn (10 sc)
Rows 2-8) Sc in
each sc across, ch 1 turn; finish off after Row 8 (10 sc) Using
contrasting color of yarn sew to overall. Use your creativity and make
as many (or as few) patches as you like and sew them to the overalls!
FINISHING
Stitch wig and hat
to head. Using photograph as a reference embroider nose using black
yarn and mouth with burgundy yarn. Dress Scarecrow and enjoy!
