Materials List:
8 oz Black Worsted Weight Yarn
2.5 oz White Worsted Weight Yarn
Two 2.5" Black buttons
Magnetic Snap
Four 1.5" D Rings
1/2 yd 1/4" cording
Size “G” hook


BASE:

Row 1:  With Black, ch 31, sc in second ch from hook and in ch across (30 sc)

Row 2-8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across (30 sc)

Turn to work in end of rows.  Ch 1, sc in ends of next 7 rows, 2 sc in end of last row, sc in first 29 free loops of foundation chain, 2 sc in last free loop.  Working in end of row, sc in ends of next 7 rows, 2 sc in end of last row, sc in first 29 sc of Row 8, 2 sc in last sc of Row 8, join to beg sc to join, ch 1, turn (80 sc)

BODY:

Rnd 1: Working in BLO, sc in each sc around (80 sc)

Rnds 2-34: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc around (80sc)

Rnd 35: Repeat Rnd 2, finish off, weave in loose ends

OVERLAY:

Row 1: With White, ch 81, sc in second ch from hook and in ch across (80 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, dc in next sc, *sc in next sc, dc in next sc, repeat from * across (40 sc, 40 dc)

Row 3-12: Repeat Row 2, finish off leaving a long end for sewing.  Match short ends of overlay.  Lay band flat.  Sew short ends together using a flat weave. 

HANDLES (make 2):

Row 1: With Black, ch 71, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (70 sc)

Row 2-4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across (70 sc)

Row 5: DO NOT ch 1, turn, sl st in next 10 sc, lay length of 1/4 inch cording along center of strip between sts 11 and 60, fold strip in half lengthwise around cording.  Working through both thicknesses, sc in next 50 sc, sl st in remaining 10 sc.

FINISHING:

Slip Overlay into purse body.  Line up with the top edge of both.  Whipstitch together.  Fold Overlay to outside purse body.  Sew button to front and one to back.  Install magnetic snap.

Thread each end of handle through a D-ring.  Stitch closed.  Sew handles to inside of purse body. Attach buttons one to the front and one to the back.
